Hello everyone. My name is Charles Cunningham but I'm commonly referred to as "Doc" at Civil War events. My name has been submitted to be on the ballot for MCWRA president. I've had the honor of being president in the past.
I've been in the hobby more years than I can count (30+). I'm a member of Missouri Brigade Medical Service. It's been a family thing for me and my family and now we're working on introducing my grandchildren to it.
I've watched it go in cycles to where there is something every weekend to where there may only be something once every 6-months. I would love to see things like that again, but it's going to take hard work from everyone.
The first is what is preached even in the national elections. Get out and make your voice heard by voting. If you don't like how something is, go to the meetings and make your voice heard.
I would like to see the MCWRA and reenacting get back like it was.
My name is Jamie Horan. I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and a proud Civil War Reenactor.
I enjoy embroidering, crafts, reading, learning new things about history, spending time and making new memories with family and friends.
I have been a reenactor since 2007, with Pilot Knob being my first event. Needless to say I have been hooked on the hobby ever since and have been a member of the Missouri Civil War Reenactors Association since that event.
I am a member of Robinson’s Light Artillery, love every minute of it! I also serve as Secretary for the 5th MO Infantry, CSA (thanks to my husband!!). I am also a member with the Missouri Civilian Corps. I have been a part of many units and each one, has given me different aspects of our history. Which I am thankful for the opportunity to learn new things so they can be passed on to others and keep our hobby alive.
I have served on the board for a number of years. I have also served as secretary a few times. I am currently serving as the President.
During this time, we have been able to get the newsletter up and running again so our members know what is going on. We have had a few “firsts” for our members as well:
** We have been able to have meetings online, by using Google Meet and Zoom (depending on location) I hope to be able to keep doing this and reaching out to members
** We are in the process of being able to pay our dues online, hoping to have this completed by the first of the year
** I am working on getting quotes for reenactors to have insurance for themselves
**I am also looking into a more generalized location to hold meetings
** Participating in a community project, Christmas Care Packages for Veterans who are in Nursing Homes and living assisted facilities.
These are just a few of the things that I have been working on. Things that have been asked for and I have tried to deliver them or get avenues on how to get them for our organization. We as an organization have come a long way this year, but we still have a long way to go, with your help, I can continue to try and keep improving our organization.
I want to thank everyone who has supported me thus far, and ask for your continued support. I look forward to serving as your President.
